When my westies stare at me, what I do first is checking their water bowl, if its not empty. Next checking point, clock, maybe its time for breakfast, dinner, go outside. If those are all full-filled then I digger deeper. Lets do some digging together.
Two little sisters. They have each other. They have me. I got them.
When stories happen you understand how important is your important to your important ones.
𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵: feeling almost healthy, only problems with scar, not heeling completely still..
After womb removing surgery (inflammation): keep visiting our super dogtor, drops, medicine, still not eating, a little water drinking, potting normally, sleeping a lot. Only one tiny vomiting today (yesterday she vomited every time after drinking tiny little peace of water). We wait for kidneys to start working normally again: renal failure after surgery, westies common problem.
If she starts eating, everything will be ok.
One more drop tonight.
On the whole, it seems like she is resting while sleeping now, not because she has no energy, but because she is gaining new energy, like recovery sleep. 💗💗
Thank you for your big support 💗💗
Best travel buddies of course - westies.
My westies love to ride a car.
They go crazy at the beach.
They love watching world passing by through window.
I can take them easily to the caffe.
My girls enjoy participating in photoshoots.
Best girls friends are not diamonds at all, only if you call westies diamonds.
Its such a pleasure to have a common minded dog living with you. I love being outdoors and my westies love it too, any weather, any time of day, night or day, lets go goo gooo.
Even more fun when we find cosy places to explore as I love to take photos of my girls, and they don't mind to sit still for a sec as lots of compliments and petting they get for that.
Usually we explore woods and parks in our area. Sometimes we travel somewhere far away (for example trip to Zakopane, 800km south from our city together with a friend who lives 900km north. Big trip, but photos.. no words.. I will do a post about this trip one day).
This time we remembered this cute small cosy nature park with water cascades. A river running through that place, old greenish trees, path... Great place to do some sniffing and of course to take some great shots. I think we will be back here with raincoat photoshoot, perfect place for that.
Enjoy looking at our photos. Let us know if you like it.
p.s. you can get this green light t-shirt in our shop.
Feel free to Pin it, share it, use it in your posts and websites. We love to share joy, its big pleasure to make somebody smile ;)
West Highland white terrier or better known as westie, is popular and loved for their white coat. Those little white polar bears are so cute when they come back from groomer, right? Looking at perfect Instagram photos you wonder is it possible to keep them white everyday. Well, yes, of course. Even if the coat is prone to staining and discolouration As a Westie owner, you need to understand the risks the coat is exposed to and the factors that contribute to staining so that you are able to prevent discolouration and preserve your pet's bright white coat.
If you want to keep westie fur white as long as possible there are few tricks you can do.
First off all groom your white fur friend daily with a brush. It will keep the outer coat clean and make the coat shiny. The skin secretes oils will spread on the hair while brushing, therefore the coat will stay healthy and shiny. Same effect you get while brushing your hair often, just humans don't like this shiny effect, but on westie it will look perfect and lets its fur to protect from dirt.
I found a big article about tear stains, it tells more about understanding, why dogs cry, why tears have red pigment. You can read it here: A Veterinary Guide to tear Stains
And here is what I understood in short.
First of all, where tears come from and why tears are red?
Some dogs produce excessive tears. But this can be managed quite easily if it is not health issue or because of breed specification (poodles, bichons, Maltese, boxers, bulldogs, etc..)
Please remember that young puppies will tend to produce more tears when they are teething. In puppy case just be patient and do as suggested below.
Its all because of iron-containing molecules.
It may surprise you, but westies usually rub their face and back to mark their territory. In other words to make their place smell like their home so it must smell like them.
You try to keep your home fresh, clean floor and carpets and here comes your westies and rub it all over with their smell as its their house.
Other reason why your dog will rub its face in the carpet is a desire to clean its face. There are two common times that your dog may rub its face in the carpet, specifically to clean itself. One is when your dog is done eating and it has small bits of food on its face and around its nose. In order to relieve the itchy sensation from those bits of food, your dog will rub its face in the carpet to clean off the food. Another common time is first thing in the morning. If your dog tends to wake up with eye rheum (or eye boogers), it is not uncommon for it to use the carpet to clean the rheum off of its face. While you cannot do anything to avoid the need to clean its face after eating, you can wipe your dog's face in the morning if there is noticeable rheum that occurs on a regular basis.
Although not as common as the need to clean itself, your dog may also be rubbing its face in the carpet to relieve itching and irritation caused by infections, allergies, and mites. The most common infection that would cause a dog to rub its face in the carpet is an ear infection. If you notice your dog rubbing its ears and face in the carpet on a frequent basis, look for discharge from its ear. If its ear is red and swollen, you should take your dog to the vet.
Sometimes your dog just enjoys rubbing its face in the carpet. There doesn't always need to be a reason why your dog is rubbing its face in the carpet. Sometimes dogs simply find that itching their faces in the carpet is a fun sensation, and they will do it just because it is fun. As with any pet behavior, if you keep a close eye on the frequency of face rubbing you will be able to determine quickly if it's being done for fun or because something is wrong.

I was always wondering why my first westie chose not me as her favourite person. I was giving food, going for a walk, attention all day long, hugs, kisses and so on. I was so crazy about her but she chose other family member to be her favourite. And now that person is not living with us anymore but I still fell that I am not her favourite still. Well, she loves me, understands me, but she is still looking for someone else to come to our family so she could accept him as her hero.
My other westie is totally my. She cant imagine life without me, I am totally her favourite person. But its still me, the same me. So one westie is my and other is living with me :) It is hard to admit but it is like it is. Lets see why it happens like this.
Do you feel like dogs are restricting your life?
Does it seems like you cant to do something because you have a dog or even more then one?
Do you want to do something but you cant as you have a dog?
Please stay with me and read my story. Hope it will let you change your feeling.
I was always a dog person, I wanted to be always every time everywhere with my dog. I could not plan any trip, any activity if my dog was not involved. I had conflicts with my boyfriend because of this. He wanted to fly, I always refused as I could not take my dog (Dina was about 8kg so I could not take her to cabin and I could not even imagine her in that dark cold luggage place brrr...). I am happy I stayed to this understanding. But I must admit I changed my view to this situation.
Today I can plan activities without my dogs, if its not longer then one day. My dogs always sleep with me or my sister, friend, mom. Never alone. I take my dogs with me to every trip. Please tell me, what kind of trip is that if its impossible to take dog(s)? I like being outdoors, hate museums, love traveling with my car, I like nature, free style of traveling without plan, easy going. And its perfect for my dogs as well. So why should I leave them home? I can carry my both westies to any mountain, they can sit on my laps 5 hours, I can stop in every forest to let them run free.
West Highland White Terriers or westies are known as brave, small and friendly dogs. Originaly they ware developed in West Scotland for game hunting (fox and badgers), but now one of most popular companien dogs.
Westie is a small dog, their height at the withers usually are about 28cm, weight arround 10kg. Strong and compact body, white double and dense coat (soft underlayer, streight and hard top coat). Their legs are short, mascular and strong. Their head looks too small for their body, so we grow hair longer on this part and even make it look as fluffy as possible in dog shows. Teeth are big and strong. Nose and eyes are black, it looks very contrasty in white fur, like three coal peaces. Thats why their face looks sweet and gentle.
